Atascadero highlight

Strong residential character

Atascadero was incorporated in 1979 as the largest city by area in San Luis Obispo County, with a planned community heritage that shaped its residential fabric.

Unlike many cities that grow haphazardly, Atascadero was deliberately designed as a complete community from its founding in 1913. Edward Gardner Lewis and his team of specialists in agriculture, engineering, and city planning laid out streets, subdivided thousands of acres, planted orchards, and installed a water system to support the population he envisioned. While the city was not officially incorporated until July 2, 1979, its residential character was established nearly seven decades earlier through this planned approach.

The city has grown to more than 28,000 residents living across neighborhoods that retain the intentional structure of their origins. Positioned inland along the Salinas River, between the wine region of Paso Robles to the north and the county seat of San Luis Obispo to the south, Atascadero functions as a stable residential center. The community benefits from access to major highways, including U.S. Route 101, while maintaining an inland character distinct from the coastal communities nearby.

Residential communities built on a plan, where neighbors share the same foundational intent, are places where families think long-term. A term life policy reflects that same outlook: a deliberate choice to ensure that the plans you make with your household would continue even if an unexpected loss interrupted them.
